The 2020 NPCCD Hindsight series was designed as a direct response for the events of this year through the classical aesthetics of Greek architecture and mythology. A specifically poignant card to highlight is the Queen of Hearts, representing Hope left behind in Pandora’s box - her isolation and entrapment becoming an allegory for many of us today.
There are several completely different print runs involved in this project. Mixed back designs and fresco court textures you see are shown to display the variety in the series. Each box contains a different spirit and specific singular color scheme.
2020 NPCCD Single Spirit (Sold Out)
This year’s deck is HINDSIGHT, based around the tragedies of classic Greek mythology that have seemingly bled into our world today, turning fiction into fact. The stories relate in particular to Pandora and her husband Epimetheus.
Each box is a transforming enclosure that expands from box into a larger temple to reveal a classical golden frieze wrapping each side. Trapped in each box is one of Pandora’s spirits. Sealing each box is a large and purposeful warning, Intaglio engraved, telling you not to open the box.
The cards feature fully custom fresco-style painted courts made to feel as if they were discovered from ancient ruins. The backs of each card features beautiful foil colored textiles (based on actual Roman patterns) that breed authenticity into the story. Decks are available gilded and ungilded.
This is the perfect add-on for any collector that wants an extra single to open without touching their full set or for the initial dabbler that wants a piece of history.
